About Me

I’m Sherimane Johnson, founder and lead coach of Plant Powered Shift, and my journey to health started with a wake-up call—one that’s all too familiar in our communities. Over 20 years ago, I was diagnosed with diabetes, a condition that had already taken its toll on my family. High blood pressure, medication side effects, and living in a food desert made it even harder to take control of my health. But I knew there had to be another way.

Through deep research, trial and error, and a whole lot of determination, I discovered the healing power of plant-based nutrition. This shift didn’t just help me manage my diabetes—it allowed me to eliminate medication entirely and thrive for over 16 years. My A1C levels improved, my energy soared, and I gained something even more powerful: the ability to help others do the same.

I started my journey as a vegan pastry chef, proving that healthy food could still be delicious and deeply satisfying. But I didn’t stop there. I became a certified plant-based nutritionist and a Food for Life instructor, blending culinary creativity with nutritional science to offer a holistic approach to health.
